Professor Kanwar is the group leader and laboratory head of Nanomedicine-Laboratory of Immunology and Molecular Biomedical Research in School of Medicine, Faculty of Health at Deakin University. His earlier research (for nearly a decade in New Zealand) has focused on studying pathophysiology and devising new treatments mainly for cancer and chronic inflammatory diseases. Prof. Kanwar is currently working on nanotechnology/nanomedicine based protein/peptide, aptamers and his research approach employs monotherapy (gene therapy, immunotherapy) and combinational therapy with commercially available chemotherapeutic agents including LNA-aptamers (RNA/DNA), peptides and other biomolecules such as siRNA, miRNA, aptamers, proteins, siRNA, miRNA and their chimera (LNA-aptamer chimera with siRNA/miRNA delivery for targeting expression of survivin (the validated anti-cancer target), HIF-1 and apoptotic signalling molecules in cancer and chronic inflammation.

Author Doctor integrated his innovation to help initially identify the infected individual at home and isolate them to prevent epidemics and pandemics. He graduated as a doctor in India and came to the UK in 1983, hoping to manifest his dream to help reduce "Social Inequalities in Health". After passing the PLAB Examination, he started working in acute and paediatric intensive care in hospitals in the UK. Dr. Neeru Sood is a Professor & Head of Biotechnology department at BITS Pilani Dubai Campus. She holds a Ph.D. degree from The Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Born and bought up in a small town in Punjab, she completed her Bachelors and Master Degree from Punjabi University Patiala and her Doctorate in Plant Sciences from Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, one of the best agriculture universities. After completing her Ph.D she worked as a Biotechnologist (Tissue Culture) in R&D Center of a sugar cane industry, Punjab. She independently established & run a modern tissue culture laboratory funded by Punjab Govt. to promote Hi-Tech, agriculture in the state before joining Biological Sciences Group BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus Rajasthan in the year 2000. After her five years tenure as a lecturer she was deputed to BITS Pilani Dubai Campus. She has been instrumental in designing and also developing Biotechnology curriculum for BITS Pilani Dubai Campus since its inception in 2007. Over the years, she has taught several undergraduate and graduate level courses. Youyang Zhao, Ph.D., is the William G. Swartchild, Jr. Distinguished Research Professor, Director of the Program for Lung and Vascular Biology, and Head of the Injury Repair and Regeneration Research at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. He is a member of the Feinberg Cardiovascular Research Institute and a professor of paediatrics, medicine (pulmonary and critical care medicine), and pharmacology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Zhao joined Lurie Children's in July 2017 after working at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he began as an Assistant Professor in 2003 and rose to the rank of Full Professor of Pharmacology in 2015.Prior to joining UIC, he worked as a senior research scientist at Pharmacia/Pfizer Co. for three years. He earned his B.S. from Fudan University in Shanghai and his Ph.D. in molecular biology from the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry. Dr. Ayan Ali studied Biomedical Sciences at York University in Toronto, Canada, graduating with a BSc and completed a Certificate of Bilingual Studies in French. She went on to achieve her MD from Tulane University School of Medicine, where her outreach work in New Orleans stemmed her research interests in racial and ethnic disparities in cardiovascular disease outcomes. She is currently a resident at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and planning to pursue fellowship in cardiovascular diseases after her chief residency, with interests in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology. When not working on her clinical interests, she is practicing yoga and exploring her new home of Philadelphia.
